My name is Ryan McCarthy. I’m the editor, writer, and web designer of this news site. I am a junior journalism major at the University of Kansas.

I have worked for the University Daily Kansan as the Sports Editor and as a sportswriter since August 2011. I have also worked as contributing sports writer for the various World Company sports sections including: The Shawnee Dispatch, The Bonner Springs Chieftain, and The Basehor Sentinel.

I grew up in Lenexa, Kan., as an avid sports fan. Since I was three years old I would love picking the NFL games of the week or keeping track of stats in notebooks. Although I grew up in Kansas, my favorite sports team is the Green Bay Packers. I was born in Wisconsin and my love for the Packers has never left me.

As far as the other sports teams, I’m a local guy all the way. Royals, Sporting KC, and of course anything Kansas Jayhawks.

My goal is to find and share interesting stories about the local community of Lawrence and the Kansas City area while presenting them in effective manner.
